Performance Improvement (PI) – Customised Solutions

Overview

A key contractor in the defence and infrastructure industries, had an explosion of growth and ramped up staffing in 4 locations across Australia. This meant the local senior team in WA needed to manage the projects in these 4 states, by employing managers and project coordinators to handle numerous projects.

The problem was they needed these staff to be skilled up and most had nor had any management training. A customised solution was needed to meet these demands.

Approach

CPC developed a specially tailored program to cover specific content that would help the company’s managers to deal with the typical project tasks, resolve routine issues, deal with clients and team issues of, communication, performance management, delegation, and team management with multicultural and multidisciplinary teams.

Further, the company had been given a grant which specified the circumstances under which funds would be granted. This required careful consideration of program topics, design, development, delivery, evaluation and logistics management.

Results

CPC designed a 12-module program for Project Coordinators and a further 8 modules for senior managers to address specifically required topics. Logistics was challenging in terms of bringing together each of these 2 cohorts in the 3 locations. Following each of the 4-day training workshops, each group was engaged in transfer of learning via coaching sessions that tied together the participants’ learning and application to workplace situations.
